As many of you may know, Chris and I are engaged and so happily in love. I knew
he was going to pop the question soon and had a feeling it would be this last weekend but wasn't 100% sure. I was invited last minute to his nephew, Brenden's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. I had to run to Walmart to pick up the picture collage I made Chris for Valentine's Day so I picked up a card and candy for both boys. I grabbed all my stuff for our date that night and waited for Chris to pick me up. It was so nice to hang out with his family. Then we went to get Chris' hair cut and stopped at Kohl's to buy me some leggings so I wouldn't freeze to death on our carriage ride.
When we got back to the apartment to change and everything, I was sitting on the couch and Chris told me to close my eyes for my presents. I HATE closing my
eyes, there is too much temptation to open them. But I managed to keep them shut. When I was finally "allowed" to open them, on the coffee table was chocolates (Ghiradelli's my favorite!!), a card, Simpson's pj pants (his favorite show), balloons, a bear and flowers (they were in the other room, though). I was about to open my card because that is always what I open first, but Chris said I had to open it last. I was admiring everything else when I looked closer and saw a huge brownie in the shape of a heart behind everything. I then noticed the words "WILL YOU MARRY ME? <3" and in the middle of it, the ring I had picked months ago. I said of course and gave him a huge hug. I then leaned over and put the ring on :-)
Then it was time for our carriage ride. I had planned my whole outfit and everything around keeping my legs and arms warm. But I forgot to take into account my
face (so did Chris by the way). It wasn't very cold but since we were in Milwaukee by the lake, there was wind, lots and lots of wind. We covered up really well with the blanket but our faces were very cold. Our eyes were watery and our noses runny. But it was such a romantic, amazing ride. Our horse's name was Gunther and he was such a good horse. At one point, we were behind his "girlfriend." He wanted to turn the corner and follow her. Our driver wouldn't let him (when I told Mom later, she thought that was quite mean keeping him from her on Valentine's Day). This was my first time on a carriage ride and it is definitely something I look forward to doing again sometime. I felt like a princess with everybody looking at us and all the kids screaming and getting excited about seeing a horse. We went to dinner at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. First time there and the food was good but maybe not as nice as the price would suggest. I got lemon chicken and it sounded super fancy and yummy in the menu but if I'm honest with you I loved the mashed potatoes soooo much more. They were super yummy!! Chris thought his food was too small of portions (can't remember what he got). He enjoyed the Appetizer Sampler so much more.
Anyways, that was my "official" Valentine's Day and the story of my
ENGAGEMENT!!! Oh my goodness, I can't believe I'm getting married!!! I still am surprised every morning when I wake up to this ring. Sorry the picture isn't the best. The only picture I have of it right now is from my phone.
